First Quilt - Stage 1 Complete!

I went out and bought more cotton on Monday so that I could finish piecing my quilt together and here it is (held up by the lovely DH - you can only see his hands and some toes!!)...
Stage 2 will be to put on a couple of borders (which I bought fabric for today)! May be a while though since our guest room (AKA my craft room / junk room) is being used to accommodate visitors over the next few weeks.
On a mothering note, Matilda and I start "Music for Toddlers" tomorrow and "Little Sprouts Tennis" on Thursday - more hyper-parenting on my part...

Kelvin @ 4 months

Yes - the boy is now 4 months old and nearly twice the man he was when arrived!! He is still a very happy boy (as you can see in the photos) and continues to be adored by his big sister.

Victorian Bushfires

If there are any lurkers out there looking at this blog I would like to encourage you to donate to the Red Cross appeal to assist the numerous victims of the Victorian Bushfires that reeked havoc over the weekend. You can do this on-line at Red Cross.

I feel like I'd like to do more but I'm not sure how best to do it...

A Pleasing Configuration?

Have trimmed all the quilt blocks and have layed them out in what I think is a pleasing configuration (see what you think!)...

... it's really difficult to stop fiddling with it!

The quilt seems to be quite yellow but I'm hoping that'll be less of an issue once I get the border onto it. Making progress!

Feverish Piecing!

So I cut out all the bits for my quilt on Tuesday night and sewed all the blocks together on Wednesday and Thursday night and ironed them tonight and have just measured them and they're not square! My seams must be slightly bigger than 1/4" so I think I'll just cut them all down to the right size and have a slightly smaller quilt (rather than unpicking all 54 blocks or 108 seams!).

As for the other stuff in my life - the kids are still alive, as is the husband so all is well with the world!! Looking forward to the long weekend which will be full of other people's birthday parties - you can never have enough cake...

Dreaming of Quilts

Since having Kelvin back in October I have been dreaming of quilts during those late night feeding sessions. So today I bit the bullet and decided to actually make a quilt!
I went to Frangipani Fabrics who were super helpful, especially since I got a bit overwhelmed when choosing the fabrics! I've decided to do the "Antique Rose" quilt by Plaids & Prints - but in greens, blues, purples and yellows (rather than the pinks and reds suggested). Thanks to Jo in Tas for her assistance with patterns!

So let's hope this is something I can stick with and doesn't become the next addition to my UFO pile!
